I've used this jacket approximately 3 times on the presidential range in NH. Great shell, breathes well and with a layer or two underneath keep the heat in. Also, excellent toughness for pushing through scrub. Worth the $$!

Loved this jacket. Bought it for a trip to Mont Blanc. 4 AM walking across the ice and snow I was pleasantly surprised how warm this jacket kept me. I am typically cold on my mountain trips and this jacket cut the wind and kept my warm. As the sun rose I only needed to unzip the vents and was comfortable.

I am super impressed with this jacket. It kept the wind and unseasonal rain/snow at bay in the Cordillera Blanca, Peru this month. Super light and layers perfectly over a baselayer and down puffy or fleece. Even the zippers are impressively waterproof. This jacket was never more than three feet away from me at anytime!

Fits, looks, functional(comportable & protective). But the best of all is the way Eddie's personnell taking care of purchasing or matter so simple and making things happen so I can be on my way just like that. Will not consider change brand and start educating my kids "what the jacket shall be and customer service meaning".

I purchased this jacket to replace my GoreTex ProShell jacket. I could not be more pleased. I have used this jacket climbing several 14ers in Colorado's front range, skiing in all types of conditions and have worn this jacket in both snow and rain. While the outer fabric feels really light, it is incredibly tough and has held up very well through some very harsh conditions. Temperature control is outstanding between the breathable fabric and pit zips. I continue to be impressed with First Ascent's products. I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone.

Used this jacket on Rainier and McKinley and was very satisfied. It breathes well, is very wind resistant and definitely will not let rain in. The vents are perfect for those overheated moments. Adequate pockets and smooth zippers.

I recently bought last years model of this jacket, and while I haven't worn it on Rainier yet, I have worn it hiking. Its very packable, light, and probably the most breathable shell I have used. I wore it hiking on a variable weather day above Sunrise, and it blocked the wind when needed and I never felt clammy, even after hiking in the sun. It also sheds rain very well, but as with all mountaineering oriented jackets the hood needs some adjustment when worn without a helmet. Very good buy.

On my first day off after buying this jacket, I noticed that it was raining a bit, so I decided to go for a walk and test it out. The little walk turned into heavy rain and winds gusting to 50 mph, and I stayed absolutely dry and warm with only a medium weight wool shirt underneath. When I did warm up a little too much, slight adjustment of the pit zips was all it took to be comfortable again. The jacket is very light in weight and works very well. Highly recommended. Final note: since I am on the heavy side right now, upsizing one size was a perfect fit.

I too was a bit skeptical of the weight of this jacket, but am really impressed with its repellency and construction. I've used it in several heavy rains and overnight in a snow cave. It rocks. It's a perfect match for the 1/4 zip Cloudlayer. Its minimalistic design, great fit and well-thought out features make me enjoy the rain (almost). It will go in my pack on every trip.

So far i'm impressed. I've had this shell for about 2 months and it didn't rain until last week or so. At the first rain drop, i put this shell on and embarked on an epic walk for maybe an hour and a half. Not a single drop crept in and I was dry when I came back. Before that, I used it to protect myself from the strangely-not-so-common-this-year snowstorms that me have here in Canada. It did a fine job doing that as well. Very satisfied
