Wear these with the Rainier Storm Shell Jacket for the ultimate protection from rain, wind and snow. Our Guides use them for both climbing and skiing. No wonder. The rugged 3-layer waterproof/breathable fabric is rated to 20,000mm/20,000g. Like the jacket, the pants are remarkably soft and quiet. You won't find a better pair of hardshells anywhere. And 20,000 feet is no place to settle for second best. Machine wash. Precision layering.

- First Ascent is cut closer to the body for a great, active fit with no bunching or binding. It is built as a complete system. All pieces - outerwear, insulating layers and baselayer - are cut so the body and sleeve lengths of each successive layer are slightly longer than the one underneath.

I bought these for a wide range of activities from climbing in the cascades to shoveling snow at home. They are very well built and have performed well so far. The only problem I've had so far is that I took them to the slopes for some downhill skiing (which I don't do much of) and they don't fit well over the huge ski boots I rented. Since that's not what I bought them for, I'm not disappointed.

I purchased this product for a recent Rainier climb, and it performed great. I loved the side zips, which made getting them off and on with my boots still on, quite easy. It didn't end up raining on the trip, but we glissaded down about 4000 feet of the mountain, and I had these on the entire time, and there isn't even a scratch on them! They feel durable, and I look forward to wearing them in a down-pour. I have no complaints about the item.
