These are what our Guides wear on Rainier. And ice climbing, ski touring, skate skiing and general mountaineering. Built with a lighter Schoeller fabric than our regular Mountain Guide Pants, the "Lites" also feature the 3XDRY finish for superior water-resistance, breathability and quick drying. Four-way stretch ensures that you've got full range of motion on that gnarly ice pitch. Machine wash.

"When I go to work, I put on these pants and don't take them off until I get home, sometimes for weeks. The fit is awesome. And they feel great." Peter Whittaker

  • First Ascent is cut closer to the body for a great, active fit with no bunching or binding. It is built as a complete system. All pieces - outerwear, insulating layers and baselayer - are cut so the body and sleeve lengths of each successive layer are slightly longer than the one underneath.

Great pants! Like the light w/ a wool base layer on cold <20, days of x country. cuts wind. moves well and doesn't bunch up. Like the straps to cinch legs over boots. I am 5'9" and 160 and the length and waist fit great. best soft shell pants i've had yet. better fit than marmot and rei. best of all comes w/ belt.

Just took advantage of the 20% off sale on these. These will be my 3 season hiking/climbing pants here in Colorado. I cannot emphasize just how comfortable these pants are. These prove you don't need baggy pants to have unrestricted movement. I can guarantee these pants will be seeing many summits in the upcoming months.

I just recently purchased this product for a 4-day 40 mile backpack trip in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I had been looking for a pair of pants that would suit me well in temperatures that were forecasted to range from a low of 35 degrees to a high of 60 degrees. In addition, I wanted a pair of pants that were comfortable and durable. The Mountain Guide Light Pants from First Accent exceeded my expectations in every capacity. Peter Whittaker wasn't embellishing when he said that he doesn't want to take the Mountain Guide Light pants off after a trip. These pants were warm enough when it was cold out (I just added a pair of base layer pants) and perfectly comfortable when temperatures neared 60 degrees. The material is a perfect balance of comfort, warmth, and breathability. I can't explain how comfortable these pants are. They are as comfortable as a set of Egyptian Cotton sheets, yet as durable as a pair of Wrangler jeans. I absolutely love them and HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM to anyone that is looking for a great pair of pants. I compared these pants to similar brands in depth before purchasing them, and none of the other manufacturers put anywhere near the level of thought into their designs like First Ascent did with the Mountain Guide Light Pants. These pants are remarkable!
