  • First Ascent is cut closer to the body for a great, active fit with no bunching or binding. It is built as a complete system. All pieces - outerwear, insulating layers and baselayer - are cut so the body and sleeve lengths of each successive layer are slightly longer than the one underneath.

Great wind breaker! I wore it often during the 2012 winter mountaineering skill seminar on Mount Rainier. I stayed warm and dry, the hood fits over my helmet and it packs small. One disadvantage: the front zipper doesn't close smoothly in cold temperatures.

I love this coat! I'm 5'9" and a medium is long enough and fits comfortably over layers including my down sweater. I would say it runs a little big. Wore it in the mountains of Peru and stayed warm and dry! Lots of pockets, light weight and packs small! Great for travel, snow or warm rain!
