Light enough to be a first layer. Warm enough to be outerwear when active. And smart: moisture-wicking, quick-drying. The Bat Hang's dual fabrics are pieced for max efficiency and comfort. Brushed for softness. (We don't mind harsh environments. But we don't tolerate harsh textures.) According to First Ascent Guide, Chad Peele, "I've heard stories of guides showering in this so as not to take it off." Enough said. Machine wash.

  • First Ascent is cut closer to the body for a great, active fit with no bunching or binding. It is built as a complete system. All pieces - outerwear, insulating layers and baselayer - are cut so the body and sleeve lengths of each successive layer are slightly longer than the one underneath.

when the weather reached a balmy 20deg , i used this with a smart wool medium weight and shell ,was very comfortable skiing down the hill, its warmer than it looks, the hood worked great with a light head gear.

i'm surprised how warm this is. warn over a first ascent base layer i was working up a sweat in 7 degree weather. the chest fits like a medium but i find the sleeves a little snug. all in all, totally awesome and highly recommended.

I use this as my second layer under my hardshell when hiking on Mt. Rainier. I used it in January with cold temperatures and it was a lot warmer than I expected. The overall fit is really comfortable, and the holes at the end of the sleeves help keep it in place when putting on gloves. The hood works well in place of a balaclava. When you zip up the hood, the zipper doesn't annoy you like the one's on most insulating layers or jackets.
