The jacket is extremely warm. In Fairbanks Alaska, where I live, the jacket meets the demands of everyday life in -20F to -40F. The only complaint I have with the jacket is the hood. If I wore the jacket for its intended purpose which is mountaineering I wouldn't complain, but since I wear it as an everyday jacket the hood is entirely too big and stiff. My climbing helmet fits perfect under the hood, but since I don't wear my climbing helmet in normal everyday life the stiffness and bulk of the hood is a hindrance. For everyday life the hood is a driving hazard whether I'm wearing it or not. Other than the one complaint, I absolutely love the jacket. We've had 8 days of record breaking weather of -35F or colder and I've not once been cold in the jacket. It is very warm.

I love this jacket. I had been borrowiny my friends, so for awhile I used the men's version before I finally bought my own. It's so warm! Anytime we're out camping in the cold or on mountaineering trips, this jacket instantley warms me up. Its saved me a few times. It also looks good and its really puffy (which I like)

warm, light weight, compact, flattering fit, great hood. kept me warm and dry in wind, rain, and snow. great for mountaineering, grocery store and football games. would recommend to friend

Note: This jacket was purchased for my wife, I will post this review based on her feedback. General Comments: Lots of down! We live in northern VT and my wife has trouble fighting off the cold. This Jacket was initially purchased for rest stops during winter hikes in the White Mountains, as it turns out she wears it walking the dogs, getting firewood, driving to work, and pretty much anytime she has to be outside in the cold. Based on the amount of down and the loft of this jacket I would overheat wearing it for any of these activities but she loves it. She has described it as "a cloud of warmth". The material seems significantly more robust than the EB downlight sweater (which I own) and appears to incorporate a ripstop grid. Sizing: My wife is 5'3" 105lb and the XS fits her with just enough room for a base layer 200wt fleece and a light hard shell underneath. Qualms: This is a serious puffy and as such the hood is sized to fit over a helmet. This combined with the amount of fill in the hood makes it slightly unwieldy when worn down (If she is wearing it in the car it is difficult to see over her shoulder when baking up, it's that puffy). I would not penalize the jacket for this though, as it is a huge plus when the jacket is being used for its intended purpose (keeping you warm in the nastiest conditions imaginable) Also the jacket would benefit greatly with the addition of a two way zipper and one or two LARGE interior pockets for gloves or water bottle. I will not deduct a star for this though due to the fact that in its price range nothing can touch it.

I love this coat. I now have 2. They are great for working out doors in all the freezing elements. It is light and comfortable and so warm. Don't have to layer underneath at all from 10-30 degrees. Keeps out the wind. I don't mind training horses in the winter anymore since I found this coat. Have told all my friends it is the only way to go in the winter,

I wore this jacket on Rainier and LOVED it! It was 5 degrees with 15-25 mph winds and when I threw it on during breaks, I warmed up really quickly. It's very warm - when I hiked in it, I had to unzip partway to cool off! The hood fit nicely over my helmet and it's fairly easy to fiddle with the hood and zippers with gloves on. It's sized with some room to layer - I am 5'2" / 105 lbs and with the XS, I layered three base layers and a fleece/softshell layer underneath and still had pretty good movement. The fit is also nice (not as ridiculously puffy looking as other options), especially for the fill and weight. Cons: I wish it compressed smaller and had a bottom zip for ease of accessing my harness.

I wore this jacket on Summit Day on my Kilimanjaro trip three weeks ago, and have absolutely no complaints. The jacket was light, warm, and offered excellent movement. As the previous reviewer noted, the fact that the jacket packs in its own stuff sack is a nice extra.

I moved to Minnesota from arizona... and was scared of winters below zero. So I bought this jacket hoping it would keep my "always freezing" body warm in subzero temperatures. The result? I was absolutely shocked at how fast it literally heated me up! I have actually had to get a lighter jacket... because It was too much if it was above zero! And the best part... this warm cozy puffy jacket packs in its own bag... about 8inx8inx8in... and weighs practically nothing... it is superbly the best jacket ever! my other favorite feature is the hood... just as warm as the rest of the jacket as it too if filled with the most phenomenal quality down ever!
