This is what you reach for when the guides say, "Parkas on!" during a rest stop and it's 5F below zero. Named for the surveyor's notation of the mountain later known as Everest. Filled with ultra-warm 850 fill power premium northern European goose down. The guides wear this to 26,000 feet, then switch to the full-body version for the summit push. Built to withstand the harshest conditions on the highest mountains. Machine wash.

Also available with RMI logo on right shoulder (see drop-down options)

  • First Ascent is cut closer to the body for a great, active fit with no bunching or binding. It is built as a complete system. All pieces - outerwear, insulating layers and baselayer - are cut so the body and sleeve lengths of each successive layer are slightly longer than the one underneath.

I wore this jacket on Summit Day on my Kilimanjaro trip three weeks ago, and have absolutely no complaints. The jacket was light, warm, and offered excellent movement. As the previous reviewer noted, the fact that the jacket packs in its own stuff sack is a nice extra.

I moved to Minnesota from arizona... and was scared of winters below zero. So I bought this jacket hoping it would keep my "always freezing" body warm in subzero temperatures. The result? I was absolutely shocked at how fast it literally heated me up! I have actually had to get a lighter jacket... because It was too much if it was above zero! And the best part... this warm cozy puffy jacket packs in its own bag... about 8inx8inx8in... and weighs practically nothing... it is superbly the best jacket ever! my other favorite feature is the hood... just as warm as the rest of the jacket as it too if filled with the most phenomenal quality down ever!
