Excellent used boots. Glad Whittaker sells used boots. Unfortunately a size 10 was slightly too small and no 10 1/2 was available. But it gave me an opportunity to experiment with different lacing techniques to prevent shin bang, which I had experienced on several other trips using rentals. By loosening the tongue and not tying down too tightly, it seemed to solve my problem. Now all I need is Whittaker to have some size 10 1/2 used boots for sale....

After talking to the Whittaker staff on the phone at great length about sizing, I ordered a pair of these used boots.
Since the Inverno's Pebax shell is totally bombproof it showed very little wear from hard rental use. All the hardware works properly, and the only damage was some torn stitching on the tongue.
The sole has seen significant wear, especially on the edges. The tread blocks are no longer nice and square, although I don't think the overall thickness has been reduced much. There is still plenty of traction, but the wearing on the heel means I had to cinch my crampons tighter than usual to get a snug fit without any play. That said, heel and toe rands are like-new, and the crampon bails are very secure.
The liners were fairly packed-out from use, but are still quite warm and were not anywhere close to worn-out. All the eyelets were solid, stitching was tight, and the fabric didn't look worn thin at all. I was planning on the liners being junk and was going to use Intuition liners all the time, but these still have lots of life left.

I've given them a good review. They're a little more used than i thought they would be but in reality thats probably me being naive. The boots function perfectly they just have a lot of marks. The liner is a little worn out I haven't taken them out in the cold yet but i'm going to shortly so i'll update this then. Anyway totally worth it.
