I purchased a set of the 8 inch tail extenders and have not be very pleased with them. They serve the function of giving more flotation, but only do so in the back. I weight about 160 plus whatever is in my pack, and have not had a heavy enough pack to push my weight back to get equal compression in the front and back of the snowshoes. I have the feel I wearing a set of heels or something, because my weight is always on my toes. Just speculation, but these may work better somewhere like Denali where you are hauling much larger packs than I am accustomed to. Hopefully someone else can comment on if that is in fact true or not. I am going to take a hacksaw to the tails and make them a little smaller, maybe 6 inches and work down if that is still too much. I should have paid attention to the guildlines for weight when I bought them.
