The Ascender is designed for climbing fixed single ropes from 8 to 13 mm and features a user-friendly ergonomically designed handle and rope clamp for maximum grip. The handle stays aligned with the direction of pull and body of the device. Made of aluminum alloy for minimum weight with elastomeric protective sleeve to improve grip and thermal insulation.

The Petzl Ascension features:

• Toothed cam in chrome steel for optimal hold as well as optimal sliding up the rope, whatever the rope's condition.
• Self-cleaning slot in the cam for evacuation of obstructive material (mud, ice) coating the rope.
• Ergonomic notched spring-loaded nylon catch allows the cam to be held in the open position. Also allows installation onto, or removal from the rope with one hand. *Two lower holes for the attachment of a footloop using a maillon and for attachment of a lanyard.
• Two upper holes allow a carabiner to be clipped around the rope: easier sliding up the rope when used for self-belaying, use in hauling systems.
• Two colors for easy recognition of right-handed and left-handed versions.
