This book picks up where first-aid manuals leave off. Written by a team of climber physicians, this fully updated edition of a classic provides expert information as well as procedures to be used in major and minor medical emergencies.

I thought I had purchased the 5th edition (because that was the description) and instead got the 6th which apparently has less medication dosage information. Despite that, this is the best, most practical, outdoor medicine manual I have read. As an ICU nurse who backpacks regularly I highly recommend it. It covers expedition level to overnight trip problems. A bit of jargon throughout but no real way around that when talking about medical treatments.
