The MYO XP headlamp was developed for high-level performance. To do this, it uses a high-output LED, a Wide Angle lens, three constant lighting levels and a flashing mode. This headlamp provides powerful lighting that can be adapted to the situation and the activity. The Wide Angle lens option is useful for instantly switching between long-range and proximity lighting. If necessary, it is possible to occasionally increase the light output to 150 lumens with the Boost mode (to locate a person, route find, etc.). To efficiently manage battery life, this headlamp comes with a battery charge indicator light. We have used this headlamp since it was first released a few years ago, and it keeps getting better. Perfect for mountaineering!

the petzl myo xp is the most bang for your buck hands down. I have tried just about every headlamp made. This one is the easiest to use, it has the most effective light settings, and the battery life for the lumens can't be outdone. oh and it uses AA batteries,so you may acually have some when you need them. this unit might seem a little expensive but performance wise it's worth every penny.
I just bought two extra's in case they ever discontinue I won't be without one.

I have used and collected many headlamps over the years and used them for everything from adventure racing to mountaineering, and hunting. The MYO XP is by far the best yet. Simple to use yet highly effective, bright enough to perform the most dextrous of tasks and battery conservative to last for many hours.
I would not trade this lamp for any other on the market.

A headlamp for the darkest of places! The Myo Xp is amazingly bright and coupled with the various brightness levels the battery life is superb. Replacing the batteries is as simple as removing the water resistant cover and the orientation of the batteries is clearly marked. The adjustable headband is fairly standard as far as headlamps go and adjusts easily. The beam focusing option is interesting and diffuses the beam well. There are really only two options though: spot and flood. One note of caution for this headlamp is for those with larger fingers. The buttons to control the various modes of operations are rather small and not very easily operated with numb fingers.
Overall, this headlamp is the perfect companion for me! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade or replace their current lamp.
