We liked this light, durable, versatile axe so much we put our name on it! Why? The hot-forged chromolly steel pick sticks into hard ice better than a cast head, yet the design is still comfortable for all-day holding, cane-style plunging, and self-arrest. The flat spike penetrates crusty ice well for security on tippy terrain, and can be rotated to provide more surface area for increased braking force during gutsy glissades. It also weighs less than most standard ice axes. An excellent choice for general mountaineers who regularly climb seracs or venture into steeper terrain. Comes in three lengths.
