I rented the Mountain Hardware Pinnacle jacket during a recent climb on Mt. Rainier. I liked it so much I purchased one for myself. It is a great waterproof shell. It's light weight and works great for skiing or climbing. It even came in handy recently when I had to take the dog out for a walk on a rainy evening. It was totally waterproof.

I have had the Mountain Hardware Pinnacle jacket now for a few months, and can honestly say that it is a great product.
The first thing that I noticed was the weight. With my last shell in the other hand the Pinnacle was noticeably lighter. Not a small feat for a jacket with a few more more features. I am guessing that this is the result of the new z weld process.
I was not sure at first about the array of zippers and pockets, but over the course of an overnight ski and snowshoe in the Chugach park in Alaska I became a believer. From the giant pit zips, to the front vents I was able to tailor the jacket to get the exact temperatures and airflows I was looking for.
Wide open for the assents on snow shoes, or closed up for the descents on skis. I was also happy that I could access them with my pack on.
My biggest surprise came in the feature that I thought was a little hokey when I first got the jacket. The water bottle holder. It worked great, and I barley noticed that I had the extra weight , and when we stopped, I always had fresh liquid water. Something that is not always the case on mid winter hikes.
I would recommend this jacket to anyone. Mountain Hardware has made a believer out of me. This jacket will go with me on all my Alaska hikes winter or summer.
