- Climbing Mt Rainier burns about 8000-11,000 calories, depending on your sex, size and fitness level. Prior training will help your body utilize stored calories as a supplement to what you're eating. This is good! It's not unusual to have a low appetite during the climb itself. Eating small amounts of foods high in carbohydrates and drinking fluids on a set schedule provides glucose to your hard working muscles. Eating small amounts frequently also may reduce the chance of an upset stomach.

while i didn't choose this meal plan, many on my climb did. they had more food than they could eat! i've never seen such a huge amount of food, everything you could think of or want. you won't have to worry about going hungry, you might have to worry about how to pack it all. the guides get the same meal plans, that speaks for itself.
