This jacket is new for the fall 2008. It replaces the popular Torch Jacket. Lightweight and great feeling soft shell, Windstopper laminate and zwelded seams (welded, stretchy and impervious to water) create a windproof, exceptionally weather-resistant shell for mountaineering.
Most people will wear this and a baselayer for their climb on Rainier and be set. Excellent choice.

I just bought this again. I previously bought a large and it fit OK, except the sleeves were way too long. I've talked to other owners with similar opinions. I am 5'9 1/2" and 180#. The meduim I have now is a little snug for me in the torso with a 1/2 zip tee underneath, but the sleeves don't drive me nuts anymore. For my hikes around town it is warm enough for me down to about 40F by itself; but I get chilled somewhat quickly. With a thicker layer underneath I could wear it below 32F

I have used this jacket for both mountaineering and ice climbing and I love it. While it is not as warm as other soft shell jacket. It is extremely light and comfortable. Having a hood on the jacket is also a plus as I have had jackets that don't have hoods. The only downside I saw to this jacket was that I had to wear an extra layer on extremely cold days. But It is worth it.
