This lamp is awesome! I use to use the Princeton Tech Apex because it has some many lighting options. But this lamp replaces all of them and some with the zoom function. Plus it's a featherweight compared to the Apex, and the batteries last, believe it or not, over 10 times longer than the Apex (or any other lamp of comparable brightness). It's not quite as waterproof as the Apex, but it will easily take a quick dunk in the creek and easily last through days of torrential rain (trust me, I've tested it already). Only one slight problem: if you want to use it without a helmet, there's no top strap. But it still sits well and feels comfortable on the head - just doesn't have that extra support that lets your head forget that it has a headlamp on it.
