Whittaker Mountaineering Rental History
Whittaker Mountaineering's Rental Department opened in 1993 offering three items - insulated parkas, shell pants and jackets - during the summer climbing season on Mount Rainier. Mount Rainier is a popular mountaineering goal for first time climbers and most beginners do not own the gear or equipment needed for the trip. The personal gear list for a climb of Rainier is fairly extensive and to purchase all the items is quite costly. Renting is a sensible and economic way to experience mountaineering for first time climbers. From our start in 1993 with three rental items offered, our inventory has grown to include twenty-five rental items year round.
