No similar basis for comparison, but a seen as a good product after a few uses.

I've only had these poles out two times, both on Mt. St. Helens. First time in the rain with rubber-palmed neoprene gloves, second time in clear weather with slick nylon liners and/or bare hands. No real noticeable difference in grip. Solid performance all the way to the top trekking through a variety of clear trail, worm flow boulders/mud, hard snow, and ice at the top. Haven't tried yet with the snow baskets. Huge asset on the descent. With a sore knee, I was able to take a bunch of the downward impact off my knee and absorb most of it with my upper body. At 6' 195 lbs, there was no concern having these trekkers repeatedly help me down from 2' or 3' and holding most of my weight momentarily. Top marks there. Adjustments to length can be made quickly, and cm increments are marked on the shaft sections for design strength and consistency. Compared to my wife's REI poles, these collapse a bit shorter. May be seen as an advantage in one way or another. I would recommend this product.
