Favorite mountain insulation ever

This jacket has become my absolute best and most flexible layer. Under 8 oz, compressible to the size of a baseball with incredible warmth in all conditions? Not sure I'd believe it if I hadn't carried on every training climb and on Rainier. It's the one piece I always keep in my pack. I wore it every day during a Muir Expedition seminar and on summit day. From climbing out of crevasses on the Cowlitz during training to 4am on the top of Disappointment Cleaver and all the way to the summit this jacket kept me warm in wind, light rain and snow. I've worn it through steady rain and even soaked it still kept me warm without overheating under. It doesn't replace a heavier parka (I use the Mountain Hardwear NIlas for that which I also love) but it will give you a ton of options for adding warmth to your layering system during training and summit days.

Use Situation: Insulation on summit day and outer layer during training
