Best stove ever for a group!

I really love this stove, 1.7 Liter, because of the volume of water you can heat in a very short time. This stove was one of 4 stoves that a group of 8 people carried on a recent backpacking trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. It turned out that it so outperformed the other stoves that the other stoves were never used again after the first day! We boiled all our water for 8 people on the 12 day trip using to large containers of gas. The stove operates in almost any conditions, wind or cold or rain, without a single problem! Due to this success, at least 2 more were purchased after the trip by members of the trip, after returning home. Way to go MSR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use Situation: I used the stove during a group backpacking trip where a lot of water is heated in a short period of time.

I love this stove!

I really can't say enough about how much I like this stove. Between the compactness of the stove/fuel/pot while stored, and the ease at attaching the pressurized fuel canister, to the speed to generate heat. Simply amazing. The only drawback is that with a team of four on a Mt. Rainier summit climb, we had two stoves, and my MSR Reactor was so much more efficient, I ended up melting snow for water for the entire group. My friend's stove only came out the first time, and melted about 1/4 the snow the Reactor did in the same time. Also, even at over 14,000 feet, it didn't take too long to get snow melted.

Use Situation: Mt. Rainier summit climb. This stove has been on Rainier with me 4 times as well as a few other climbs, and even with being banked around a bit, it performs perfectly. I've used it on wood table, flat rocks, and even directly on ice when I had to.

Speedy Summit

My climbing partner had this stove on Rainier in 2010. It easily beat the other stoves in our group, so I bought one when I got home. Summer, Winter or altitude it delivers my coffee faster than Starbucks!

Use Situation: Mountaineering, backpacking, winter camping.

This stove rocks. Boiled water in about 4.5 minutes at 7700 ft on Eldorado Peak during a May climb. I don't know the temperature, but I was wearing my gortex over an 800 fill light down vest, and a 600 fill down sweater over a fleece and I was still a little cold. Wind was blowing 10 - 15 mph. The trick, as with all canister stoves, is to keep the canister off the snow. I use the MSR Universal Fuel Canister Stand and it's great. Also adds a great deal of stability. Boiled about 20 liters before the can ran out, with boil times lengthening to 10 minutes as we neared the end of the fuel and the temp continued to drop.
