Located in the Sudirman Range of the western central highlands of Papua province, Indonesia, Carstensz Pyramid stands at 16,024 feet. Also known as Puncak Jaya, it is the highest mountain in Indonesia. Heinrich Harrer, Russell Kippax, and Albert Huizenga became the first to reach the summit in 1962. Carstensz Pyramid is named after explorer John Carstensz, who first discovered the mountain. The most common routes on Carstensz are the Harrer and Normal routes.
