Need to Know
Questions About E-Bikes?
What kind of e-bike am I renting?
A Giant Class 1 pedal-assist bike — no throttle, you need to pedal for the motor to engage. The SyncDrive Core motor is smooth and responsive, with 5 assist levels plus an Adaptive Smart Mode.
- 500W motor / 400Wh battery
- 29" wheels, 100mm front suspension
- Pedal-assist up to ~20mph
Can I ride in Mount Rainier National Park?
Yes. Mount Rainier National Park allows Class 1 e-bikes everywhere traditional bikes are permitted. Our rentals are pedal-assist only and capped at 20mph, so they meet park requirements. Check posted signs at trailheads.
How much does it cost?
Hourly: $25 · Half Day (4 hrs): $50 · Full Day (8 hrs): $80 · 2-Day: $150. Helmet, lock, and handlebar bag are included in all rentals.
How does pickup and drop-off work?
Pick up at the Whittaker Mountaineering shop in Ashford — arrive at least 30 minutes before your ride. If planning to use your own bike rack, it must be rated to carry at least 60 lbs per bike. Please do not leave the bikes unattended or unlocked while out and about.
Return during store hours. Do not leave bikes outside after hours.
How far can I actually go on one charge?
Expected range is 15–45+ miles depending on terrain, assist level, rider weight, and conditions. Use Adaptive Smart Mode for the best efficiency. Lower your assist level on descents to save battery. Maintain a steady 60–80 RPM cadence.
What are these bikes NOT good for?
Aggressive mountain bike trails, technical downhill, jump lines, or bike park features. These are built for gravel, forest service roads, and paved routes — not singletrack riding.
