RMI's Cordillera Real expedition runs as a 16-day program at a 2:1 climber-to-guide ratio — a mini-expedition into the Condoriri Group on Pequeño Alpamayo (17,800 ft) to acclimatize, then summit attempts on Huayna Potosi (19,974 ft) and Illimani (21,122 ft) to put it together. Prerequisites are real: previous mountaineering experience, prior altitude work, and comfort with intermediate technical skills. It's a Level 4 program — Baker North Ridge, Rainier seminar, or Ecuador volcanoes are the right preparation.

Three peaks in sixteen days means your duffel has to do double duty — warm enough for Illimani's high camp, light enough to porter across an acclimatization climb earlier in the trip.
