The lightweight standard for the death zone.

The Olympus Mons Pro is the definitive choice for high-altitude alpinism, engineered to keep you moving in the thin air of the world's 8000-meter peaks. Weighing in at an astounding 940g—lighter than many single leather mountaineering boots—it completely redefines the weight penalty of extreme warmth. This double boot system utilizes a "Core-Wrap" construction to maximize thermal efficiency without the bulk of traditional "moon boots," while the external BOA® Fit System allows you to micro-adjust the fit without ever unzipping the gaiter or exposing your hands to the biting cold.

Diggin' in to Details

Our Take

This is the boot that changed the game for high-altitude climbing. In the past, 8000-meter boots were heavy, clunky "moon boots" that made technical climbing a nightmare. The Olympus Mons Pro feels incredibly nimble by comparison, allowing for precise footwork on the Step or the Bottleneck. The ability to crank down the BOA lace system without taking off your overmitts, or opening the gaiter, is a massive safety feature when the ambient temperature is -30°F.

Our Philosophy

We Simplify Outfitting

Whittaker Mountaineering was born out of the need for RMI to make sure their clients had the appropriate gear to get to the top of Mt. Rainier safely. After decades of trying, reviewing, arguing-over, and recommending gear, we can’t help but know what we’re doing by this point. We know what works, we know what doesn’t, and we use that expertise to stock our store.

Who are these guys?

La Sportiva

Born in the Italian Dolomites in 1928, La Sportiva sets the global standard for technical mountain culture, producing world-class gear for climbing, skiing, and mountaineering. We carry their collection at Whittaker Mountaineering because their relentless innovation delivers the reliability athletes trust in the most demanding vertical environments.

Fit

These boots are built on the Olympus Mons last; while the fit is precise, high-altitude swelling and thick sock combinations usually dictate sizing up 0.5 to 1 full Euro size from your standard street shoe.
